At Tillageworx, we’ve always tried to be as straight-up as possible with you. We know that the last thing you need is a sugar-coated corporate update, so here’s exactly what’s happening with our pricing and why.

Right now, the global tungsten market is facing an unprecedented crisis. We want to explain exactly what’s happening, how it affects you, and what we’re doing to help.

Why is this happening?

Tungsten is the backbone of high-performance tillage, but global demand has recently hit an all-time high. A combination of factors has seen the global price of tungsten increase by nearly 500% over the last 12 months. Everyone from defense to tech is suddenly competing for the same raw material we use for our parts, and that’s driven the cost up for everyone.

Export Restrictions: Major global suppliers have tightened export controls and countries have started stockpiling tungsten, drastically reducing the amount of raw material available to the rest of the world.

Explosive Demand: Industries like defense, EV battery production, and AI data centers are consuming tungsten at record rates, leaving traditional industries like agriculture in a tight spot.

Global, Not Local: This isn’t just happening to us. These price hikes are hitting every manufacturer globally.

We know it’s a tough time for farmers

We aren’t blind to the fact that this comes at a terrible time for Australian farmers. With out of control fuel prices, urea supply risks causing volatility, and interest rates that just won’t go down, we know your margins are being squeezed from every direction. The last thing you need is another cost increase.

Our Commitment to You

We are currently in active Research & Development to source alternative materials. Our goal is to develop a “Standard Range” of parts using alternative hard wearing materials, that are more affordable than our high-performance tungsten line. While they may not have the same extreme longevity, they will provide a high-quality alternative at a better price.
